Aluminium is one of the lightest engineering metals, having a strength to weight ratio superior to steel. By utilising various combinations of its advantageous properties such as strength, lightness, corrosion resistance, recyclability and formability, aluminium is being employed in an ever-increasing number of applications.
Thickness Tolerances - Cold Rolled Sheet & Strip Please note that thickness tolerances for Cold Rolled material vary according to Alloy, with the Alloys falling into two groups as shown above. The thickness tolerances also vary according to the width of the maetrial as shown in the tables below.
European Aluminium is an EPD Programme Operator and is allowed to produce EPDs according to EN15804. The aluminium industry is also contributing to the development of standards dealing with ‘Sustainability in buildings and civil engineering works’ at the level of the International Standards Organisation.

Aluminum stock is classified with four-digit numbers, just like steel. The different series (e.g. 1000, 2000, etc.) are divided according to each alloy added to the aluminum. Like carbon steel, the 1000 series are the unalloyed form of the metal. However, you'll notice that the numbering protocol for aluminum then assigns one series per alloy.
Aluminum Sheet - 3003, 5052, 6061. Ordering Note: Stock sizes may vary +/- 1/8". Please call if you need specific sizes. Aluminum sheets are bare, mill finish without PVC, so minor imperfections may be present. Inquire about PVC protective mask for a near blemish free surface.
